TERM 2 WEEK 4 NEWSLETTER
Welcome to our Term 2 Week 4 newsletter.
This week is a special week for members of our staff as it is World School Support Staff Week. Yesterday we said thank you to our wonderful School Support Officers, who do so much for our school community. They definitely make each day a happy day, through their support of staff, students and parents.
We gave a little gift to them to thank them for “helping us to grow”.
CONFIRMATION
Please keep in your prayers the candidates who are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation, which will be held this Sunday in our parish. Thank you to all those who have prepared the candidates, especially their parents, Godparents and families.
CELEBRATE LAUDATO SI' WEEK (16TH - 24TH MAY)
Laudato Si' Week is a weeklong event marking the seventh anniversary of Pope Francis' landmark encyclical on creation care. It is a time to listen and respond together to the cry of creation, rejoice in the progress we have made in bringing Laudato Si' to life, and intensify our efforts through the "Laudato Si' Action Platform", walking the "Synodal" path.
Click here for ideas on how you can celebrate this week with your students and families...
Celebrate Laudato Si' Week 2022
During Laudato Si Week, Catholic Earthcare is hosting an online screening of the newly released 'Regenerating Australia' short film. This short film is a sequel to the '2040' film which was released in 2019.
'Regenerating Australia' is a fictitious news segment set on New Years Eve 2029, examining the decade that 'could be'. The film challenges us to consider how we respond to the Cry of the Earth. Catholic Earthcare invites parish groups, schools (including staff and students), and families to join them online for FREE to view the short film.
KINDERGARTEN 2023 ENROLMENT INTERVIEWS
I can’t believe we are at that stage already in the year, however, commencing next week we warmly welcome the families who have applied to St Michael’s for Kindergarten 2023. Our Year 6 leaders are very excited to show them around our beautiful school, which is such a great opportunity for this group. We do have a lot of applications again this year, which is wonderful to see.
A reminder that we currently have a couple of places available in some of our classes, so if you know of anyone moving to the area, they are welcome to submit an application. Applications are available online through our school website, or they can contact our school office.

WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY- FRIDAY 20TH MAY
Walk Safely To School Day (WSTSD) is coming up soon, this Friday 20th May.
WSTSD is a Nationally participated day, aimed at schools and has health, road awareness and pollution reduction at its heart.
In more detail the main objectives of Walk to School Safely Day are:
- To encourage parents and carers to walk to school with primary school age children and reinforce safe pedestrian behaviour.
- To promote the health benefits of walking and help create regular walking habits at an early age.
- To ensure that children up to 10 years old hold an adult's hand when crossing the road.
- To help children develop the vital road-crossing skills they will need as they become mature pedestrians.
- To reduce the car dependency habits that are being created at an early age and which will be difficult to change as children become adults.
- To promote the use of Public Transport.
- To reduce the level of air pollution created by motor vehicles.
- To reduce the level of traffic congestion.
Click here for more information : https://www.walk.com.au/WSTSD/
At school, we will be discussing ways to stay safe both on and off the roads and pathways. We have safety units as part of our PDHPE programs that will reinforce these safety measures.
