Dear Parents & Carers,
As my time as Acting Principal comes to a close at St Michael’s, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for the support, dedication, and warm welcome over the past nine weeks.
It's been an honor and a privilege to lead this wonderful school community, even if only for a short period. During this time, I have witnessed remarkable dedication from our teachers and staff, whose commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating learning environment is truly inspiring. To the staff, your unwavering support has been instrumental in ensuring the students continue to thrive both academically and personally.
To the parents and carers, thank you for your continuous cooperation and engagement. Your involvement in school activities, open communication, and trust have greatly contributed to our collective success. Your partnership is invaluable in creating a supportive and enriching educational experience for the children.
To the students, I am incredibly proud of your enthusiasm, kindness, and hard work. Your passion for learning and positive attitude have made these weeks immensely rewarding. Keep shining brightly and striving for excellence in all that you do.
Lastly, I want to express my deepest appreciation to Mr Tuckwell, the assistant principal, and the St Michael's Leadership team for making me feel so welcome and supported. It has been a joy to be part of such a vibrant and caring community.
As we welcome back Katrina West, I am confident that St Michael's Mittagong will continue to flourish and achieve great things. Thank you once again for a memorable and fulfilling experience.
With sincere gratitude,
Sheereen Brunetta
Acting Principal
Farewell to Linda Sewell
The whole school community would like to acknowledge Linda's service to our school over the last 32 years in the library. She has contributed immensly to childrens learning and story telling with so much enthusiasm.
Students commented the most about missing Mrs Sewells story telling and of course her infectious laugh.
We'll all miss you Linda and wish you the best of luck with your retirement.

Year 6 Mass with Bishop Brian
On Friday 26th July, Year 6 students from the Southern Highlands and Macarthur Regions joined together at St Paul's Camden to celebrate Mass with Bishop Brian. It was very special with students from the different schools taking lead roles during the Mass. Bishop Brian reminded students regarding the importance of their role in their faith.
Thank you to Mrs Brunetta and Mrs Eggleston for accompanying Year 6.
Grandparents Mass
Last weekend (28th July) we celebrated Mass for “World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly”. Our beloved Pope set this date aside for the celebration and recognition of Grandparents and the Elderly as people who play a major role in sharing our faith with the next generation. It was a lovely Mass with lots of Grandparents and grandchildren attending. Thank you to all those who were able to attend.
On Tuesday the 6th August as a school we will celebrate the Feast Day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. Year 6 will lead our school with a special Liturgy and then students will have the chance to experience some olden days style of games.
NAIDOC week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. St Michael’s students celebrated NAIDOC week on Tuesday 23 July with a liturgy and then an afternoon taking part in a variety of activities to celebrate the nation's first people.
