It is important to remember, that the COVID 19 pandemic is not over and we must all continue to play our part in keeping our schools and one another safe by such things as:
- Keeping your child home when they are unwell, even with very mild symptoms.
- Informing the school immediately if your child is self-isolating or undergoing testing, and informing the school of the result as soon as possible. The school must sight your negative result before your child has clearance to come back to school.
- Any child who is sent home from school due to COVID symptoms e.g. temperature, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, NSW Health recommends that you have your child tested for COVID 19 and the school must sight your negative result before your child has clearance to come back to school.
- When entering an medical absence into COMPASS, we ask parents to kindly also provide a description of the absence: eg; tonsilitis, medical appointment, stomach bug, cough etc. As a condition of our Covid Plan, we are required to check the reasons daily to ensure the safety of all. If your child has had a COVID test you are required to send a copy of the result (screen shot is acceptable) prior to your child returning to school. This data is added to a CEO database to assist with contact tracing.
NSW HEALTH: FLU VACCINATION
NSW Health is seeking the support of schools to encourage parents and carers to vaccinate their children against flu this winter and has provided the following advice.
For young children, flu can be life-threatening, and the flu shot is their best protection against severe flu. Flu shots are free for children from 6 months to under 5 years of age, as well as pregnant women, all Aboriginal people from 6 months of age, people aged 65 years and over, and people with medical conditions such as severe asthma, diabetes, and cancer.
DIGITISATION OF SCHOOL RECORDS
The Catholic Education Office is currently implementing the digitisation of all Diocesan school records. To assist with this project, any hard paper copy of notes (eg permission notes, absences notes, medical certificates) that the school receives has to be scanned and added to your child's digital file in COMPASS. To assist us with this task, all future notes for excursions/incursions/events will be uploaded through COMPASS. Consent (and payment if required) can be completed through the COMPASS portal.
