Principal's Message

HOLY TRINITY SUNDAY
Last Sunday was Holy Trinity Sunday. This special feast day recognises the Holy Trinity. “Trinity” means “three” and the Holy Trinity recognises that there are three persons in God. There is only one God, but God is a relationship of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

When explaining this to children, we can describe the Holy Trinity as if it were like a family. Each of the persons is different, but the family wouldn’t really exist if one of them were missing. The Holy Trinity is also a relationship of love. When we live the way God wants us to, we are joining in the life of the Holy Trinity.

Importance of the Holy Trinity in our life

* All Sacraments are administered in the name of the Holy Trinity - we are baptized, confirmed, anointed, our sins are forgiven, and our marriage blessed, and our Bishops, priests and deacons ordained in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

* Where Church bells ring three times daily, they remind us to pray to the Holy Trinity.

* We bless ourselves, and the priest blesses us, in the name of the Holy Trinity- In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

Holy Trinity
IN SYMPATHY
Please keep in your prayers Mrs Anmarie Moroney and her family. On the weekend, Mrs Moroney’s father passed away peacefully. We pray that they find comfort in the love of their family and friends.

This week, Mrs Janine Webb will be teaching Year 3. Thank you for your understanding and support.

SEMESTER ONE REPORTS
In Semester One, we normally provide a progress report at the end of Term 2. Due to the very different Semester One that we have experienced this year with remote learning, the decision has been taken by our Diocesan office, that schools will issue an interim Semester 1 Report. This is not a progress report. The report will look quite different to our normal Semester Progress Report. In this Interim Semester 1 Report, your child will be graded on engagement and effort in three areas: Religious Education, English and Mathematics. The report will be issued on Friday Week 9 via COMPASS. Please see the attached co-signed letter from Noel Henry (CEDoW Head of School Improvement Services – Primary) and I, regarding the Diocesan reporting for this semester.

Last term, we held parent-teacher interviews. I appreciate the support you gave to our staff in the organisation of these interviews, especially considering we were at that stage, in the process of remote learning. If you wish to discuss the interim report, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher and a similar discussion process can be arranged.

TERM 2 WEEK 6 ONLINE ASSEMBLY
Each week, we are creating our weekly assembly online. This assembly is uploaded to your children’s Seesaw page. If you did not see the assembly last week, please visit your child's Seesaw page.  Alternatively, you can also view the assembly on our school Facebook page. I thank our Lamplighter’s Team for a very special World Environment Day prayer that they created for our assembly.

CEDoW COVID-19 website
The CEDoW COVID-19 website aims to provide clear and accurate messaging for our school communities about all Diocesan procedures regarding CEDoW COVID-19 measures. A link to the COVID-19 Information Centre has been placed on our school website home page. It is also available on the CEDoW website. You can access the site from this link.

FAMILY PHOTOS
If you haven’t already done so, can you please send in a family photo for our FAMILIES IN OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY wall. We would like to create a photo wall in our school foyer, recognising all our great families that make up our school community of St Michael’s Mittagong.

Thank you for your continued support of our school community.

Have a lovely week,

Best wishes and God Bless,
Mrs Katrina West
